WHAT IS THE I SEE YOU PROJECT:
I think we can all agree that one of the challenges of universal facemask wearing, is the lack of visual expression and connection. A few months back, we launched #thetransparentfacemask
, and have received tons of really great feedback. In fact some of this feedback helped us tweak our design to make it even better. Someone recently sent me the attached photo of a hospital in New Orleans, using similar masks for parents at the NICU bedside. They found that while these babies are tiny, their physical state was calmer when parents wore this transparent mask. As a current RN for a special needs child, this made me question why we are not doing this locally at Albany Medical Center? These families are not only coping with the incredible stress of a hospitalized child, but they have to wear a mask that completely covers their expression. After multiple phone calls, and back end workings, we have gotten the green light to move forward!!!
Introducing our newest collaboration with the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Capital Region
This will be called the “I see you” project. Our transparent facemasks will be distributed to all of the families, to use while visiting their children in the hospital (NICU, PICU, and Pediatrics). We are hopeful that a visual smile will help bring some joy during a very difficult time. Our goal is to provide these masks to every single family that walks through the door. We are actively seeking private donations, or other businesses collaborations to help make this happen! Feel free to reach out with questions, or if you are interested in helping!
Our last program #facemasksforthefrontlines successfully donated over 1100 masks all across NYS.
Joanne and I are hopeful to have the same success with this project too!
You can also make a cash donation to help buy masks, 100% of proceeds go towards masks that will be direct shipped to the Ronald McDonald House.
